The Journey of an OCC Gift Box

Pastor Jacob pushes his motorcycle, weighed down with boxes, along a steep and narrow mud road carved into the side of a cliff. When even that becomes impossible he lifts the box onto his shoulders and continues the journey on foot.

This narrow path is the only way to reach a remote mountain village in the Philippines. After overcoming countless obstacles and crossing three rivers, Pastor Jacob finally arrives. And at last, a smile breaks across his face.

In that village, Pastor Jacob shared the Gospel with the adults, while his wife and daughter used Samaritan’s Purse discipleship resources to introduce the children to Jesus.

The Power of a Simple Gift

When Pastor Jacob finally handed out the OCC Gift Boxes he had carried with such great effort, the children responded with pure joy and excitement.

That joy didn’t end with the gift. It led them into The Greatest Journey - a discipleship program designed to help children grow in their faith.

After completing the program, the children participated in a graduation ceremony that became more than just a celebration - it turned into a powerful outreach event where the Gospel was shared not only with the children, but also with many in the surrounding village.

Pastor Jacob’s labor was not in vain.

The Gospel spread throughout the village, and many adults came forward to publicly confess their faith.

Pastor Jacob baptized them in a nearby river, and today, he is leading the construction of a church in the village. He is also raising up a new pastor named Edmond, expanding the ministry so that even more lives can be reached with the hope of Christ.
