Finance Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The finance team of Samaritan’s Purse Korea (“SPK”), an international Christian relief NGO headquartered in the United States, is seeking an experienced staff member. This role is responsible for overall finance and accounting in accordance with Korean public-interest corporation accounting standards and for supporting the financial accounting work of our U.S. headquarters. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Faith

    - A committed Christian who regularly attends a church that is part of a recognized denomination (regular church attendance required).
    - Willing to participate in daily morning devotional time and join in intercessory prayer for donors and ministry work.
    - Able to maintain a mature Christian faith and lifestyle as a faithful believer.

  • Education

    Bachelor’s degree (3–4 year program) or higher; major in Business, Accounting, Economics or related field preferred.

  • Experience

    Minimum 5 years of experience in finance and accounting for public-interest or other nonprofit organizations.

  • Competencies

    - Able to function as a mid-level manager, effectively supporting the Director and delegating and coordinating work among team members.
    - Understands the team’s workflow and processes, takes ownership, and proactively responds to needs.
    - Strong ability to learn new tasks and systems and to organize and systematize work.
    - Demonstrates a learning mindset, self-directed learning ability, and a proactive, initiative-taking work style.

    - Strong ability to use tools and information necessary for effective job performance.
    - Experience with and solid understanding of accounting systems..
    - Advanced user of Excel and other Microsoft 365 Business applications, with strong overall computer skills.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    - Extensive experience handling Korea’s four major social insurances.
    - Experience processing donations for fundraising organizations (e.g., Community Chest of Korea or similar).
    - Experience managing supporting documentation for accounting and audits.
    - Experience booking international air tickets, accommodations, and rental cars.

  • Language

    - Korean: Able to prepare reports and documents to be submitted to government and public institutions.
    - English: Able to communicate and perform finance-related work in English (with focus on reading, listening, and writing).

  • Other

    No restrictions on domestic or international travel when required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list below includes the primary functions of this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee overall accounting and finance operations in accordance with public-interest corporation accounting standards.

  • Lead month-end and year-end closing, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with external audits and all statutory reporting requirements for public-interest corporations.

  • Develop and manage annual and monthly budgets, monitor execution, and perform monthly and annual financial analysis.

  • Manage the receipt and disbursement of cash and in-kind donations, including issuance and control of donation receipts.

  • Handle retirement pension, social insurance programs, and tax filings (corporate income tax, payroll withholding, value-added tax, etc.), and liaise with relevant government agencies.

  • Strengthen internal controls, improve financial processes, and operate and maintain the accounting system.

  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial information and analysis that support organizational decision-making.

  • Provide training for staff and support employees on overseas business trips regarding financial and expense-related matters.

  • Prepare and submit financial and accounting reports required by the international headquarters.

  • Prepare various internal and external financial reports and handle related administrative tasks.

  • Support other departments as needed and participate in organization-wide events and projects throughout the year.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with organizational needs.

  • Follow policies and procedures of Samaritan's Purse as set forth in the ministry’s Policy Manual.

Working Conditions

  • Working Hours

    Monday–Friday (5 days a week), 8:30–17:30 or 8:00–17:00.

  • Office Location

    Samaritan’s Purse Korea, 13F, SC First Bank Building, 47 Jong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul (Exit 2, Jonggak Station).
